On April 25, the ASEAN+3 Finance Think-Tank Network (AFTN) expansion signing ceremony was held online. The event was addressed by Li Kouqing, Director of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) and Chair of the AFTN Steering Committee, and Ramona Mohd Razali, Director of the International Division of the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia. Representatives from seven new member institutions from Cambodia, China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as existing member organizations, participated in the online signing ceremony.
Deng Jianping, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Xiamen National Accounting Institute (XNAI), attended the ceremony and signed the cooperation documents on behalf of XNAI. During the event, Deng Jianping provided a brief introduction to XNAI’s development and highlighted that in recent years, XNAI has consistently conducted in-depth research on economic issues closely related to the ASEAN+3 regional economy, such as fiscal sustainability, green finance, and the digital economy. Building on this research, XNAI has successfully organized various international capacity-building activities in finance and economics, attracting more than 900 financial officials, scholars, and practitioners from the ASEAN+3 region. In March 2025, XNAI also hosted the Second Working Group Meeting of the ASEAN+3 Finance Cooperation Mechanism, co-chaired by China and Malaysia.
Moving forward, XNAI will take its membership in AFTN as an opportunity to further leverage its professional expertise in accounting and finance, actively providing intellectual support for economic and financial stability in the ASEAN+3 region.
Established in 2023, AFTN serves as an important dialogue and knowledge exchange platform under the ASEAN+3 finance cooperation mechanism. It focuses on issues such as macroeconomics, financial stability, and resilience within the region, carrying out collaborative research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, with the aim of contributing positively to the development of the ASEAN+3 region.
This year marks the first expansion of AFTN. As one of the institutions nominated by China, XNAI’s admission into the think-tank network signifies a major step forward in its journey to build a world-class high-end financial think tank with global influence and Chinese characteristics, further advancing the construction of an "internationally recognized, uniquely Chinese" accounting institute.
